The upcoming Sun Belt showdown between Old Dominion and Coastal Carolina presents an interesting matchup between a struggling Monarchs team and a Chanticleers squad looking to rebound. Coastal Carolina, currently 3-1, has shown flashes of brilliance on offense, averaging nearly 37 points per game. They suffered their first loss of the season last week against Virginia, conceding 43 points in a game where the defense was unable to slow down the Cavaliers. Quarterback Ethan Vasko will lead the Chanticleers, and despite an average completion percentage (53.6%), his dual-threat capabilities have kept defenses on their toes. Old Dominion, on the other hand, comes into this game at 1-3 but secured a narrow victory over Bowling Green last week. Their offense, led by Grant Wilson, has struggled to find consistency, averaging just 20 points per game.
The Monarchs have relied on running back Aaron Young, who has racked up 280 rushing yards this season, to carry the load. The key for Old Dominion will be to establish the ground game early and sustain long drives to keep Coastal’s high-powered offense off the field. Defensively, Coastal Carolina has been vulnerable, especially against the run, ranking 114th in FBS in rushing yards allowed per game. This weakness could play into Old Dominion’s favor if they can find success on the ground. However, the Monarchs’ defense has its own issues, allowing 26.8 points per game and struggling to contain more balanced offenses like Coastal’s. If Coastal Carolina’s offense finds its rhythm early, they should be able to build a comfortable lead and force Old Dominion to play catch-up. But if Old Dominion can capitalize on Coastal’s defensive lapses, they might keep the game closer than expected.

The Old Dominion Monarchs come into this game at 1-3, finally breaking through with their first win of the season against Bowling Green last week. Despite a shaky start, the Monarchs showed grit, scoring late in the fourth quarter to secure a 30-27 victory. Grant Wilson has been the focal point of the offense, but his inconsistency (four touchdowns and three interceptions) has hindered the team’s ability to sustain drives. The Monarchs’ best offensive weapon has been Aaron Young, who has provided a spark with 280 rushing yards and two touchdowns. The Monarchs’ defense, ranked 88th nationally, has struggled to keep opponents in check, allowing 26.8 points per game. Their secondary, in particular, has been susceptible to big plays, which could spell trouble against a Coastal offense that excels in generating explosive plays. If Old Dominion wants to stay competitive, they will need to tighten up their pass defense and find ways to disrupt Vasko’s rhythm. For Old Dominion, the game plan will center around controlling the clock and keeping Coastal’s offense off the field. If they can establish the run early and convert on third downs, they might be able to dictate the pace and keep the game close. However, given their struggles on the road, it will be a challenging task to pull off the upset in Conway.

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers started the season strong with three consecutive wins but stumbled last week against Virginia, where they were outplayed in a 43-24 loss. Despite this setback, the Chanticleers’ offense, averaging 36.8 points per game, remains potent. Quarterback Ethan Vasko has been efficient, throwing for 734 yards and four touchdowns, but the running game, led by Tray Taylor, has been the backbone of their success, averaging over 200 rushing yards per game. Defensively, Coastal has been inconsistent. While their secondary has shown promise, the front seven has been porous against the run, allowing nearly 200 rushing yards per game. Head coach Tim Beck will need to make adjustments, especially against an Old Dominion team that will try to exploit this weakness. If the defense can create pressure and force Grant Wilson into mistakes, the Chanticleers should be able to control the game. Overall, the Chanticleers have a clear edge in talent and depth, but they cannot afford to overlook Old Dominion. A balanced offensive attack and solid defensive performance will be necessary to secure a comfortable victory and regain momentum in the Sun Belt standings

Remi is pouring through mountains of datapoints on each player. In fact, anytime the Monarchs and Chanticleers play there’s always several intriguing observations to key in on. Not to mention games played at Brooks Stadium in Oct seemingly never follow normal, predictable betting trends.
Remi's searched hard and is crunching tons of data, but hasn't found a good Prop Bet yet for this game.
Remi, our AI sports algorithm, has been pouring over exorbitant amounts of data from every simulation between the Monarchs and Chanticleers and using recursive machine learning and kick-ass AI to examine the data to a single cover probability.
Oddly enough, we’ve seen the AI has been most keyed in on the unproportionally assigned weight human bettors regularly put on coaching factors between a Monarchs team going up against a possibly tired Chanticleers team. Trends look to say the true game analytics appear to reflect a slight lean against one Vegas line specifically.
